Fact: Your Wedding day is THE most special day of your life. That being said, us ladies think it's pretty important to also look and feel extra special on your big day. While Instagram and Pinterest are filled with ideas and "quick fixes", we find it's better to hear legitimate facts. We believe that just like not everyone is a professional photographer, not everyone can be a skincare professional, makeup artist, or hairstylist. That's why we wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to some of our favorite vendors to work with, and share some tips and tricks for Wedding day beauty.
We asked Dr. Aanand Geria of Geria Dermatology in Rutherford, NJ some tips on how he keeps his brides skin looking flawless for their Wedding day! Here is what he said:
To have healthy, glowing skin on your big day— all of your skin care concerns should be address at least 3-6 months in advance for best results. It’s never a good idea to wait until the last minute.
Always see a dermatologist so you can get an expert medical opinion to see what’s right for your skin type.
Sometimes prescription medication may be needed and sometimes certain services are only offered at a doctor’s office — it’s not always about the cheapest service, it should always be about what’s right for your skin type and for your concerns.
These are some services that he performs on his patients to help them look great before the makeup even comes on.
Chemical peels are a great way to resurface your skin.
Peels can help correct dark spots by removing the outer layer of the skin leaving skin soft, supple and smooth. This makes for amazing make up application on the big day. Highly recommended for those with oily skin, as peels will allow make up to look fresh for longer.
Another great service is the HydraFacial, which washes out all pores that are otherwise clogged with white/black heads, dead skin, dirt and even make up! Cleaning out pores monthly for 6 months prior to the big day will help to even skin tone, decrease pore size, minimize acne causing bacteria, and leave you with with a healthy, hydrated glow! Great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin. This is one treatment that does it all: cleanse, exfoliate, extract, hydrate, and protect — giving that instant glow!
Dermaplaning is another big one brides are considering. A great alternative to waxing. As waxing can cause breakage in skin and potential burns. Dermaplaning removes hair and peach fuzz, allowing for amazing make up application. A quick, easy procedure done in the office in under 30 minutes.
Pre wedding skincare is not just important for brides but also for grooms. Many brides and especially grooms neglect their skin as they are so busy planning everything else! Grooms need their glow as well.
