We LOVE first looks and here's why:
-This is the moment for you to take it all in.
You've spent months, maybe even years planning for this very special day. It's only going to come around once and between all the hustle and bustle it's easy for it to fly by. That's why having that precious 15 minutes before the ceremony of just the two of you together taking it all in is so important. Take some time to absorb everything that has been and is to come during this moment.
-More time for portraits & partying!
Yes, I know, we are photographers so we are all about getting as many beautiful pictures as possible because that's our job so this statement might seem a little biased. But seriously, doing all the portraits before the ceremony allows for so much more party time. You'll know once you get through the ceremony that the rest of the day is going to be easy, stress free, and you can start by enjoying cocktail hour with your guests!
-First looks really are just so much fun.
We've had such a great time photographing our couples doing the first look. All the secret reveals and hype leading up to it make for some great shots and memorable moments.
Now that we've convinced you first looks are the way to go, here are some ways you can make yours super creative!
The classic "shoulder-tap"
If your not one into making things more complicated than they have to be, the shoulder tap is the way to go. Find a beautiful setting in either an outdoor pathway, forest, or long hallway to set the scene. Make sure the groom is properly turned so the approaching bride is out of sight and now it's showtime! We love this simple reveal, and it's made extra special when you have two photographers capturing both the groom and the brides expressions!
Holding hands
Find the perfect corner or doorway in your venue and stand on either side of it so you can't see each other. Take a moment to reach around and hold each other's hands. This simple, yet profound gesture speaks in so many way and can be captured so beautifully before the big reveal.
Sing her a song
We have been waiting to find a groom who is up to the challenge! For those of you who's partner is a musician, have him in an adjoining room singing a love song! Join him in the room and soak up the romance! But be sure to have the makeup artist on standby because this reveal is sure to be tear jerker.
Back to back
Another simple, yet great option for a first look. Find a cool indoor or outdoor area so your photographer can get a full length shot of the two of you back to back with beautiful surroundings. For an added twist add a blindfold!
If you have an idea of your own, let us know! We are all about getting creative on your Wedding day and trying new poses or ideas :)
